Land owners

If you are a land owner interested in exploring the idea of a solar farm:
1.       Is my land eligible for a solar farm?
2.      What are the implications from the solar farm?
3.      What is my aspired role in this?
4.      How do I make the opportunity come to life?

We have the expertise to realise this opportunity  for you.

Here are some areas of investigation we will carry out for you :

Land eligibility:

Not all land works for PV a larger plot near to a substation or large pylon will be cheaper to connect and develop, planning permission is simpler to apply for if the site is less visible to obtain and various other factors

1)   Land General Criterion

a.     The land is Grade 3 or 4,
b.     The land is available within 4-12 months
c.      The site is visually well shielded
d.     No AONB or other planning status
e.     No other designation i.e. SSSI
f.       40 to 170 acres in size
g.     With a decent grid connection, i.e. a 33kv line , 132kv line or substation within 2 miles Pls see above pictures
h.     No impediments such as footpaths (only limited) or other rights of way
i.       There is reduced flood risk
j.       Not too many gas or water pipes, no crossing of major roads, rivers or rail lines
                                      i.     undeveloped (no existing buildings),
                                     ii.     rectangular cross-section,
iii.     free of bedrock (to allow piling),
                                   iv.     of even topography,
                                     v.     free of shadows from larger vegetation, buildings, etc.
vi.     The Site is accessible to a 30 tonne heavy goods vehicle during construction(such access     forming part of the Access way, as defined in the relevant Lease).
vii.     The site is not within 200 meters of a ground standing  wind turbine.
viii.     The ground surface is sufficiently flat or not undulating as to allow an EPC Contractor, acting reasonably and in accordance with good industry practice, to install solar photovoltaic equipment at the Site.
ix.     The slope of the ground at the Site is no more than 5°
                                     x.     The Site is not within 1 mile of the coast.
xi.     A good GSM signal should be available at the site
k.     No difficult mortgages that may take months for consent

2)   Some additional implications are:

a.     Confirm eligibility for the Single Farm Payment and to check the remainder of other plans with financial benefits
b.     A contract for at least 20 years
c.      Need to clarify access to PV farm by maintenance contract
d.     High Ecological value: Green power and high ecological value of site
e.     Need to safeguard against operational risks
                                      i.     rent payment/income and
                                     ii.     Decommissioning through bank guarantees

If you are curious, have land that you think may be suitable for a PV Development  we would like to talk with you.
